I live in Vancouver, WA with my husband Wayne, 23 year old son Kevin, 4 dogs, and 1 cat. Yes I have a houseful and yes it can get pretty chaotic at times but I wouldn't change a thing.
I enjoy most crafts but I specialize in and have a passion for making greeting cards. My first experience with card making was when I attended a friend's Stampin' Up! workshop back in 1998. I admit at first I thought the whole stamping thing was pretty hokey but when the workshop began I was hooked. I purchased supplies to make Christmas cards and was pretty happy with how they turned out. I really wanted to purchase more supplies and really get into it but I just didn't have the time or energy because I was working full time. Eventually I gave away all my supplies and a couple years later I wound up unable to work due to Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
I found myself getting depressed and climbing the walls because I needed something to do when I remembered how much I enjoyed making cards. First I kicked myself for giving away all my stuff then I went totally insane on Ebay buying basic supplies. Over the next year I taught myself just about every technique that has an online tutorial. I really wanted to share my passion for cardmaking so I created this blog.
I hope you enjoy my projects as much as I enjoyed making them. Please let me know if you have any questions, I'm always happy to help. Thank you for stopping by!
The colors on your page are just beautiful. I love what you did with all your stamping supplies as a header for your page. I am in the process of being diagnosed with MS The Neurologist wants to put it on the back burner and take care of some other issues I have going on. I like you have come to the realization of the wonderful effects being creative can help cope at the least. Cheapest form of therapy! Although from the looks of my stamping area I could have had a years worth of therapy every day! Thanks for sharing your story. Rhonda
ReplyDeleteHi Rhonda, thank you soooo much for your compliments, I really appreciate it! I must confess that my header's actually a pic that I found on my SU! Demo site. I'm so sorry to hear about your possible diagnosis. I can only imagine what you're going through. I'm so happy that my story helped you. That's exactly why I shared it. I love helping others & I know how alone you can feel sometimes. It's like no one really understands what you're going through (I know they're trying but unless you've lived w/this they can't truly understand) Speaking of which please call me anytime if you need a friend or have any questions. I've lived w/this since '97 so I've learned a thing or two over the years. My phone #'s 360-521-9846 & email's lnelson74@clear.net. you're right being creative is the best therapy. It gives me a real sense of accomplishment & keeps me busy so I don't notice the bad stuff so much. Like I said in my story (I think) it finally gave me a reason to get outta bed in the morning. Thanks again & please don't hesitate to call/text/email me anytime, i'd love to hear from you. Take care & have a wonderful day!
